Office Information

Getting Started with Aspire Psychotherapy

1. Complete the Match Form

We’ve created the Match Form to help us identify the right therapist and approach for your goals.

2. Schedule a 15 Minute Free Phone Consultation (For Therapy Seekers)

After submitting your match form, we will reach out to you with office information, answer questions you have, and help coordinate a free phone consultation with a therapist. You can expect to be asked a few follow up questions about your match form and be given space to answer any questions you have about our office, therapists or starting therapy in general!

Office consultations are offered for those looking for more information about psychological/neuropsychological testing.

3. Intake assessment (60 minutes)

After the phone call, the first therapy appointment will be the intake assessment (60 minutes - video/in-person). More evaluative in nature, the intake assessment is focused on a deeper look into your history (work, family, social, relationship, current symptoms) to further understand what brings you to therapy. This allows your therapist to craft a highly individualized treatment plan that is backed in research and tailored to your goals.

4. Ongoing therapy sessions

Ongoing psychotherapy sessions (45 minutes) are scheduled on a regular basis (weekly, 2x per week) and can focus on individual, partners/couples or family therapy.

Session cost & out of network

Session cost.

Our session fees are comparable to other clinical psychologists and therapists in New York and are discussed during the initial consultation.

Out of network reimbursement.

While we are not in-network with insurance at this time, we are an eligible out-of-network provider. You may be eligible for out of network benefits from your insurance plan, which can cover anywhere from 50-80% of total costs! If so, we can send you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. You will be responsible for the full session cost at the time of your appointment, and will receive any reimbursement from your insurance company directly. We can help you look into your out of network benefits!

Psychological Testing

I’m interesting psychological evaluation. How does pricing and insurance Work?

Psychological testing is not typically covered fully under insurance. Even though we are not in-network with any insurance companies, it does not mean we cannot see you and that you cannot be reimbursed (at least partially) for our psychological testing services. Many insurance plans provide some coverage for providers who are not in-network (some reimburse up to 80%). We are happy to provide our cheat sheet with more information on exactly what to call and ask your insurance to see if you might be eligible for reimbursement!

Confidentiality & privacy

Communications

We use a secure patient portal (Simple Practice) to handle all sensitive data. The patient portal also allows you to access billing documents, share files to your therapist and even request a session at your convenience. Current patients can log into the portal here.

In Session

Confidentiality is one of the most important components between a client and psychotherapist. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but the therapist's office. Every therapist should provide a written copy of their confidential disclosure agreement, and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. This is called “Informed Consent”. Sometimes, however, you may want your therapist to share information or give an update to someone on your healthcare team (your Physician, Naturopath, Attorney), but by law your therapist cannot release this information without obtaining your written permission.

However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations:

* Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.

* If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming themselves or has threatened to harm another person.
