How do I know if I should start therapy?
We all have times when anxiety, stress and depression take over our life. Relationships, family or work just feel harder to deal with, if not impossible. That's where therapy can help. Connect with an affirmative therapist to start thriving, not just surviving.
Whether you're looking for tangible tools to manage anxiety, or a safe space to vent about your dating life or work stress, therapy can help you take back control of your life.
We meet our clients where they are at and honor their stories and unique experiences. If you're not sure how to begin, the first step is starting the conversation and trusting that together, we will find the right path for you.
Why should I work with Aspire Psychotherapy?
Dr. Anya Scolaro, Psy.D. and Brie Scolaro, LCSW started Aspire Psychotherapy to provide the high quality, effective and compassionate mental health care they felt was missing in the therapy space. They believed in creating a space that was welcoming and affirming towards all humans, but that equally prioritized expert care and research backed solutions. From providing clear information online to being responsive to our clients, clinicians at Aspire Psychotherapy center their patients in their care. Aspire Psychotherapy is a therapy practice built from love, collaboration and a dedication to facilitate healing, and it is this foundation from which we look forward to helping you reach your goals.
How does the process work?
We’ve created a questionnaire that helps us identify the right therapist and approach for your goals. This is based on what you’re looking to work on, your personality, availability and other factors. Once you complete the form, we will reach out within 1 business day with recommendations.
The next step is the intake assessment (60 minutes). More evaluative in nature, this first session is focused on a deeper look into your history (work, family, social, relationship, current symptoms) to further understand what brings you to therapy. This allows your therapist to craft an individualized treatment plan tailored to your goals.
What does it cost?
Our prices are comparable to other clinical psychologists and therapists in New York and are discussed during the free phone consultation.
Out of Network Reimbursement
You may be eligible for out of network benefits from your insurance plan, which can cover anywhere from 50-80% of total costs! If so, we can send you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. You will be responsible for the full session cost at the time of your appointment, and will receive any reimbursement from your insurance company directly.
We have partnered with Mentaya to help our clients save money on therapy. We can help you check your out of network benefits via email.
I’m interesting psychological evaluation. How does pricing and insurance work?
Psychological testing is not typically covered fully under insurance. Even though we are not in-network with any insurance companies, it does not mean we cannot see you and that you cannot be reimbursed (at least partially) for our psychological testing services. We are happy to provide our cheat sheet with more information on exactly what to call and ask your insurance to see if you might be eligible for reimbursement.
Do I have to be in New York City?
Nope! We can work with anyone within New York State and in New Jersey.
How can I start at your Upstate NY Office (Stone Ridge)?
As of January 2024 we added in-person office appointments at our Upstate NY Office (Stone Ridge, NY 12484). We are excited to join the Stone Ridge Healing Arts Center. Please use the match form and specify you are interested working at our Upstate location and the appropriate therapist will reach out to you directly.
Are you currently telehealth or can I see someone in-person?
Currently, we are 75% telehealth (video / phone) and have limited spaces for in-person in both our Manhattan (UES) and Upstate NY locations.
If I fill out the match form or complete the phone consultation, do I have to commit? What if I don’t want to move forward?
No problem. If you are on the fence about starting therapy, we highly encourage you to complete the match form and phone consultation. Try it out - see what you learn and how it feels to you. We’d even encourage you to do your research and speak to a few other providers. That being said, we look forward to speaking with your beautiful self and seeing if we can help.
